The Graduate Certificate in Emergency Nursing is designed for nurses who want to build on their existing knowledge and skill and practise effectively at an advanced practice level in emergency care settings. This degree introduces emergency care principles and focuses on common emergency presentations, as well as examines key aspects of emergency patient care. Throughout the course, youll develop essential skills to manage and prioritise these patients, and learn core concepts relating to acute illness, disease, and trauma.This course has replaced the Graduate Certificate in Acute Care Nursing (Emergency).
Structure
Students complete four core (compulsory) topics, including a professional experience placement topic.These topics aim to develop specialised knowledge, skills and attributes for application in the emergency care environment.
Standard entry requirements
- Applicants must normally hold a bachelor degree or equivalent qualification
- Hold current Registered Nurse registration, have one year (Full-time equivalent) work experience as a Registered Nurse, within the last five years. Applicants must also have a minimum of seven months work experience in and be currently employed in an emergency department. Applicants must provide details of their registered nursing work experience in their SATAC application.
