The Master of Social and Emotional Pedagogy is designed for educators who work with children. It is based on a humanistic framework of compassion and is grounded within five pillars of practice that include do no harm, suspend judgment; show unconditional positive regard; provide no advice and safeguard confidentiality. It is important that educators recognize that students encounter personal, social, and psychological challenges in addition to the intellectual and academic challenges of schooling. By recognizing, acknowledging, and responding appropriately to student social and emotional needs, including developmental hardships and difficulties, educators may lessen student and teacher burden and foster positive educational outcomes.

Structure

Students complete eight core (compulsory) topics and eight option topics aiming to enhance educators understanding of student and teacher non-academic challenges and needs, using a humanistic and evidence-based approach. This Master articulates from the Graduate Certificate in Social and Emotional Pedagogy.
