This is a recognised initial pre-service teacher postgraduate degree to become eligible to apply for Teacher Registration in South Australia as primary school teachers.Students will be provided with the background and skills necessary to enter the primary teaching profession with confidence and competence.

Structure

Students complete seventeen core (compulsory) topics aimed at providing students with the knowledge of curriculum studies and theories of education and undertake professional experience to bring together theory and practice in school settings.Students will undertake professional experience placements as part of the course. Standard entry requirements

  • Applicants must hold a bachelor degree or equivalent qualification
  • And must normally have achieved a Flinders equivalent grade point average (GPA) of 4.00 or above for consideration.Applicants who meet the above requirements will be ranked on the basis of their GPA and selection will be on this basis to fill places available.Applicants who hold a qualification making them eligible for teacher registration in primary will not be considered.

Recognition

Graduates will be able to apply for teacher registration with the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia. Applicants are advised to check registration requirements as they are subject to change. Graduates looking for employment in other parts of Australia and overseas may be required to meet additional conditions.
