This two-year full-time program provides graduates with the opportunity to undertake advanced study and research. It is designed to provide students with a thorough training in applied scientific research and methodology and will also prepare students for higher degree studies and professional employment. The program consists of both theoretical and practical coursework, as well as a research component (dissertation). The coursework will provide critical evaluation of research and presentation, develop the student's knowledge and understanding of statistical analyses techniques as applied to scientific research and develop an awareness of research proposal design and background. Students will have the opportunity to develop a research proposal including aims, methodology and a literature review. The dissertation, involves applied research on a specific project, a seminar and thesis describing the research in detail.

Biotechnology: BSc within a relevant science discipline (cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, plant biology, genetics, molecular microbiology) with a GPA of 5.0 or better; Clinical and Molecular Microbiology: A BSc with major studies in microbiology in a biological science discipline (biochemistry; biomedical science; biotechnology; molecular biology; genetics; plant science) with an equivalent GPA of 5.0 or better OR the Graduate Diploma of Clinical Microbiology with a GPA of 5.0 or better. Food Security: A BSc in a relevant discipline (chemistry; microbiology; food science; plant science) with an equivalent GPA of 5.0 or better. Medicinal Chemistry: A BSc with major studies in chemistry or biological chemistry (biochemistry, organic, analytical or physical chemistry) with an equivalent GPA of 5.0 or better. Material Science: A BSc in a relevant science discipline (chemistry; physics; materials engineering; chemical engineering) with an equivalent GPA of 5.0 or better.
