Certificate IV in Aeroskills - Mechanical

This qualification is part of the Aeroskills Training Package. It applies to employees of Civil Aviation Maintenance Organisations (AMOs) or to members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) who perform scheduled inspections, fault diagnosis and repair, and modification of airframes and airframe mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components, and of aircraft engines and (where applicable) propellers. The qualification defines the exit from an apprenticeship and may apply to either aircraft maintenance performed on flight lines/ramps and in hangars, or to airframe and engine component repair and overhaul performed in workshops. These outcomes are defined in two streams: aircraft maintenance stream and component maintenance workshop stream.

Aircraft Maintenance Stream: 21 units: 8 core; 13 elective. OR Component Maintenance Workshop Stream: 14 units: 8 core; 6 elective

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Interpret WHS practices in aviation maintenance; Plan and organise aviation maintenance work activities; Apply quality standards applicable to aviation maintenance processes; Interpret and use aviation maintenance industry manuals and specifications; Complete aviation maintenance industry documentation; Perform basic hand skills, standard trade practices and fundamentals in aviation maintenance; Conduct self in the aviation maintenance environment; Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices. Plus electives.

Study Pathways:

Diploma of Aviation Maintenance Management (Mechanical) and Advanced Diploma of Aviation Maintenance Management (Mechanical). Provided the correct elective units are picked, it qualifies individuals for the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) of a B1 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence.
