This combined degree is designed for aspiring secondary school teachers. Students combine studies in two single or one approved teaching discipline/s with both theoretical and practical aspects of education. In the final two years of the program, students develop skills in classroom competence and spend 80 days of supervised teaching practice in at least two different secondary schools.

Year 12 or equivalent; Assumed Knowledge: Band 5 or higher in any HSC English course or the equivalent.


192 units of credit including education courses, teaching method courses, arts major and minor and elective courses.

Chinese studies; English; French studies; German studies; History; Indigenous Studies; Japanese studies; Korean studies; Music studies (Intensive); Sociology and anthropology; Spanish and Latin American studies; and Theatre and performance studies.

Proficiency in English is essential in all courses that form a part of the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) component of the dual degree. It is expected that all applicants will have a Higher School Certificate minimum Band 5 in Standard English, English as a Second Language or Advanced English, or an overall IELTS score of 7.5, with a minimum of 8.0 in Speaking and Listening and a minimum of 7.0 in Reading and Writing, or the equivalent.


This course is recognised as a professional teaching qualification in all states/territories of Australia.
