This program aims to produce Dermal Sciences graduates who can provide competent, efficient and compassionate clinical care in the Dermal profession. Students will be trained in a wide variety of dermal treatments using some of the most advanced, evidenced based technologies. Students will practice these under supervision within the Victoria University Health Clinics. Students will also be given external placement opportunities.
Entry Requirements: (Year 1 Entry) Successful completion of an Australian Senior Secondary Certificate (VCE or equivalent) including Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or 20 in any other English. (Year 2 Entry) Successful completion of a cognate (similar discipline) Australian Diploma of Beauty Therapy (or equivalent) will be granted advanced standing of a maximum 96 credit points. Applicants with other qualifications such as Cert IV in Beauty Services or Diploma of Nursing will also be considered and entry points will be mapped accordingly.
Structure: 384 credit points; 48 credit points College Core units; 240 credit points of Core Dermal Science units.

Our Colleges

College of Arts – offers a wide range of courses and conducts world-class research in cultural studies, communication, community development, creative arts and industries, psychology, social science, social work and youth work.

College of Business – has an international reputation for research excellence and its MBA is ranked in Australia’s top 10 by The Australian Financial Review’sBOSS Magazine and Australia’s top three by CEO magazine.

College of Education – emphasises on-the-job experience in teacher education and youth work through a partner network of schools, community groups, government and universities. VU is one of the few Australian universities to offer a prep to year 12 Bachelor of Education, which allows graduates to teach at any school level.

College of Engineering and Science – offers architectural, building, civil, mechanical, electrical and sports engineering, as well as courses in information technology, building surveying and science.

College of Health and Biomedicine – provides hands-on learning, teaching and research in nursing and midwifery, dermal sciences, osteopathy, beauty therapy, nutrition and paramedics.

College of Law and Justice – provides education designed in consultation with legal professionals in all aspects of the law. Second- and third-year students can participate in real cases at the Melbourne, Sunshine and Werribee Magistrates’ Courts.

College of Sport and Exercise Science – VU offers courses in all aspects of sport, physical education, recreation management, coaching and exercise science. Courses are based mainly at Footscray Park, home of the university’s $68 million Exercise and Sports Science Laboratory Precinct and renowned Institute of Sport, Exercise and Active Living (ISEAL).

Victoria University Polytechnic — delivers VU’s VET courses. These include apprenticeships, pre-apprenticeships, traineeships, skills recognition and other certificate and diploma courses tailored to meet current and future workforce needs. Course areas include trades, hair and beauty, health, sport, community services, transition education and service industries.
