Structure

To qualify for the degree of Master of Design the candidate must complete satisfactorily a program of study that comprises all core subjects and four optional subjects. A combined total of 120 credit points is required including a Capstone project. The Master of Design (Advanced) requires all core and 5 optional subjects - a combined total of 160 credit points to be completed which includes a Major Project. Electives can be taken from the elective bank below. One elective can be taken from any Torrens but must have prior approval by the Program Director. Master of Design: In total 7 core subjects are required and 4 electives including one elective from level 9. Level 9 subjects are DSGN 6030 Design & Economics 10 UOC and DSGN 6032 Capstone Project which is a double (20 UOC subject) but which cannot be extended over more than one trimester preventing extensions of the project for more than 12 weeks so that timeframe and relevant cost of the project is taken into account. In addition students present their work and defense to the Academic leadership team of the Faculty. Master of Design (Advanced): The Major Project is one trimester project (40 UOC) that aims to engage the student with industry. Building on their Capstone project student are to extend their project whilst engaging with industry or user groups. The Major project has 40 UOC which amounts to 40 hours of study time per week for 12 week for this subject to be completed.
