The Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Management and Education expands upon the knowledge and experience of the interdisciplinary student cohort to equip them with the essential qualification to work towards becoming a credentialed diabetes manager ond diabetes educator.This course has replaced the Graduate Certificate in Primary Health Care (Diabetes Management and Education).

Structure

Students complete four core (compulsory) topics, including a professional experience placement topic.These topics aim to provide students with professional entry level competence against the Australian Diabetes Educators Association National Core Competencies.

Standard entry requirements

Applicants must normally hold a bachelor degree or equivalent qualification, and hold current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as either a Nurse, Midwife, Dietition, Medical Practitioner, Pharmacist, Podiatrist, Exercise Physiologist, Physiotherapist, Optometrist or an Aboriginal Health Practitioner.Applicants must also have have one year (Full-time equivalent) post registration work experience.

Recognition

Graduates will meet professional entry level competence against the Australian Diabetes Educators Association National Core Competencies.
