The Master of Professional Accounting (Business Analytics) builds on the Master of Professional Accounting, which is designed to give students a thorough understanding of accounting concepts as they are applied to diverse business environments. The Business Analytics specialisation gives students the skills and knowledge to undertake business analytics using industry standards tools. It is an ideal course for those wanting to seek employment within the accounting profession with an intimate knowledge of data analytical tools.

Entry Requirements:

Successful completion of an Australian Bachelor degree (or its equivalent); Prior learning developed through relevant work experience or professional accreditation, where it is deemed to be at least equivalent to that obtained through a Bachelor degree, may be considered. In making an offer to an applicant, the University will give consideration to a range of factors to determine whether an applicant has demonstrated the capacity to work at a Masters level, including academic record, English proficiency, and/or employment experience. NB: Meeting minimum prerequisites does not guarantee an offer of a place; Entry into all La Trobe courses is based on competitive selection and there may be limited places available.

Structure:

Students must complete 240 credit points. This includes eight core accounting subjects and four business analytics subjects, which must be completed in a specific order. Those who have not completed a business undergraduate degree must complete a four-subject foundation module. Those who have completed a business undergraduate degree may seek advanced standing for these four subjects.

In 2016, La Trobe awarded travel grants and scholarships to 950 undergraduate and postgraduate students to study with partners like National University of Singapore, San Diego State University and Stockholm University.
