This course provides an introduction to the discipline of science. It provides preparation for studying a range of Science courses at Bachelors level, through the development of background knowledge in, and skills related to, the study of science at university level. The areas covered will include biology, chemistry, physical science, mathematics and English communication. Students will also gain skills in independent study crucial to successful learning at a tertiary level, and skills to prepare them for laboratory assistant careers in the sciences.

Year 12 or equivalent. English Language Requirements: An overall Academic IELTS of 5.5 or equivalent, with no band score below 5.5.

Subjects include: Communication in Science; Biology 1; Chemistry 1; Introduction to Biology; Introduction to Chemistry; Introduction to Physical Science and Maths; Academic English.

Study Pathways:

Students who complete this course may gain 12cp of advanced standing towards any Science degree at UC. This will include specific credits for the units Concepts in Biology, Chemistry 1a and Communication in Science, and as an elective unit, Academic English.
