This specialist degree is particularly for teachers and administrators in early childhood and primary education who want to broaden their understanding and skills in relation to the philosophy and concepts underlying the International Baccalaureate programs. Graduates are eligible for certification from the International Baccalaureate Organisation, allowing them to teach in any school teaching IB in the world.

Structure

100 points of coursework comprising 75 points of core subjects (including the capstone requirements) and 25 points of elective subjects, completed over one year full time or two years part time.

Standard entry requirements

  • Degree and an approved teaching qualification
  • Or approved 4 year teaching degree
  • Or approved equivalent qualification that is recognised by the MGSE as evidence of adequate preparation for the course and a record of professional or teaching experience in an acceptable field and level. A four-year education degree, or equivalent, or an undergraduate degree in any discipline and at least 50 credit points, or equivalent, of graduate study in education. Applicants without a relevant degree but with at least 6 years relevant work experience are encouraged to provide a CV with their application to be considered.
