Understanding and applying the affordances and limitations of information are highly sought-after skills in our contemporary data rich and data driven society. This course supports students to become data literate knowledge workers and citizens, to 'speak' and use social scientific data in rigorous and compelling ways. It expands students' capacity to understand, assess and apply diverse data types, sources and analytic methods and communicate the meaning and value of data to others. The course emphasises utilizing data in work contexts to identify social patterns and drive organizational practices, decision making, reporting and engagement with stakeholders.

Structure

Students must complete two core (compulsory) topics and two option topics chosen from a range of option topics available. There is also an opportunity to complete a micro-credential in Interpreting and Communicating Social Science Data.

Standard entry requirements

Applicants must normally hold a degree or equivalent from an approved tertiary institution. However, the Dean (Education) may, under certain circumstances and subject to specific conditions, admit others who can show evidence of fitness for candidature.
